Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment
This is my core service and the reason most families and schools seek my expertise.
A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation provides a detailed understanding of your child's cognitive, academic, and social-emotional functioning. Each assessment includes:
1. Record review: A review of relevant records, such as past evaluations, report cards, and educational plans.
2. Parent interview (1-2 hours): A conversation with parents, which can be conducted via telehealth, to gather detailed background information, discuss current concerns, and review developmental, medical, and educational history.
3. Questionnaires: Parents, teachers, and, when appropriate, students complete questionnaires that assess various areas.
-
Socioemotional and behavioral functioning
-
Adaptive functioning
-
Executive functioning
-
Personality
4 Direct in-person testing and student interview (6-8 hours)
One-on-one evaluation of:
-
Intellectual abilities
-
Attention and executive functioning
-
Learning and memory
-
Sensorimotor and visual skills
-
Language and phonological processing
-
Academic skills
Student interview: The child, adolescent, or young adult also participates in a conversation to share their experiences, discuss socioemotional functioning, and explore their own questions for the evaluation.
5. Parent feedback session (1.5 hours): A meeting, which can be conducted via telehealth, to review the assessment findings, discuss recommendations, and answer questions about the results.
6. Child feedback session (15-30 minutes): For developmentally ready individuals, this session provides a personalized explanation of strengths, areas for growth, and strategies for success, as well as an opportunity to ask questions.
7. Comprehensive report: A detailed written report that describes the findings, clinical impressions, and practical recommendations to support learning, development, and well-being. Reports are typically completed within three to four weeks after the feedback session.
Additional services (as needed)
-
School Observation: Teacher questionnaires typically provide adequate insight into a student's functioning in the school setting. When needed, I consult with school staff to obtain a clearer understanding of their concerns. School observations are also conducted when necessary to clarify a student’s functioning across different environments.
-
Collaboration with other clinicians and learning specialists: I partner with treating clinicians—such as pediatricians, therapists, speech-language pathologists—and learning specialists to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the student's needs.
-
Attendance at school meetings (IEP or 504 meetings): When requested, in-person or remote attendance at school meetings can be arranged.
