Comprehensive Neuropsychological Assessment

A comprehensive neuropsychological evaluation provides valuable insights into your child's cognitive, academic, and socio-emotional functioning. Each assessment includes:

1. Intake interview (1-2 hours)

A conversation with parents to gather detailed background information, discuss current concerns, and review developmental, medical, and educational history.

2. Examinee Interview and Testing (6-8 hours)

One-on-one assessment that evaluates:

  • Intellectual abilities

  • Attention and executive functioning

  • Learning and memory

  • Sensorimotor skills

  • Visual skills

  • Language

  • Academic skills

The child, adolescent, or young adult also participates in a conversation to share their experiences, discuss socioemotional functioning, and explore what they would like to learn from the evaluation.

Parents, teachers, and, when appropriate, the student are asked to complete questionnaires that assess:

  • Socioemotional and behavioral functioning

  • Adaptive functioning

  • Executive functioning

  • Personality

Some questionnaires are sent after scheduling. Others may be administered during the testing session.

3. Feedback session (1½ hours)

A meeting with parents to review the assessment findings, discuss recommendations, and answer questions about the results.

4. Comprehensive Report

A detailed written report that describes and integrates the results and provides individualized recommendations to support learning, development, and well-being. Reports are typically completed within three to four weeks after the feedback session.

5. Additional Services as Needed

  • Record Review: Review of relevant records (e.g., past evaluations, report cards, or educational plans) to provide additional context.

  • Examinee Feedback Session (15-30 minutes): For developmentally ready individuals, this session provides a personalized explanation of their strengths, areas for growth, and strategies for success.

  • School ObservationWhen appropriate, observation in the school setting and discussions with school staff help provide a clearer understanding of the student's functioning and learning environment.

  • Collaboration with Other Clinicians: Coordination with treating clinicians—such as pediatricians, therapists, and speech-language pathologists—to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the student's needs and share relevant findings.

Giftedness Evaluation

Giftedness evaluations assess a student's intellectual functioning or aptitude and may be required for admission to specialized programs or schools. Academic testing can be included if needed but is not part of the fixed fee. These evaluations include a written report. Medical insurance does not cover giftedness evaluations.

Abbreviated Evaluations

For individuals who have previously been assessed, identified with an area of deficit, and begun remediation, a focused, abbreviated evaluation may be appropriate to monitor progress and growth.
