What can I expect from my assessment?

Every assessment includes:
-
Intake interview (typically 1-2 hours, depending on the focus of the assessment): Gather detailed information from parents about their current concerns and history.
-
Hands-on testing and interview with the student (typically 6-8 hours): Direct assessment of intelligence, attention, executive functioning, learning and memory, sensorimotor skills, visual perception, language, and academic skills with the student. Obtain a better understanding of the child's perspective of their challenges and socio-emotional functioning.
-
Questionnaires: Students who are old enough, their parent(s), and their teacher(s) are asked to complete questionnaires that assess various areas of functioning (e.g., socio-emotional, behavioral, and adaptive functioning).
-
Feedback session (approximately1½ hours): Review the assessment results and recommendations with parents.
-
Report: A detailed report that describes and integrates the assessment results as well as provides recommendations, typically provided within four weeks after the feedback session.

Assessments may also include:
-
Record Review
-
Student feedback (15-30 minutes): For developmentally ready students, a meeting to explain the results, with a focus on how to use strengths to compensate for more challenging areas, and the recommendations.
